Filipino Dawn Mass Novena Starts Dec. 16

The Filipino Tradition “Simbang Gabi” (a devotional nine-day series of “Dawn Masses”) is celebrated in anticipation of Christmas and to honour Mother Mary. The Novena is held at several parishes across the Archdiocese of Vancouver.

To start off the Annual 9-day Novena, everyone is invited to the “Simbang Gabi” Launching Mass at the Holy Rosary Cathedral (Vancouver) on December 14, at 7:00 PM, with the traditional Lantern Parade starting at 6:45 PM. The Eucharistic Celebration will be officiated by none other than Archbishop J. Michael Miller, CSB.

On the North Shore, masses will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Parish (on Lonsdale Avenue) and will start daily from December 16 until 24, at 6:00 AM (0600 H) as per the classic “Simbang Gabi” tradition.
St. Edmunds’ will have their masses in the evenings, at 6:30 PM starting December 16.
St. Paul’s will have their masses also in the evenings, at 7:00 PM
