Christmas Day is the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord, and a holy day of obligation in Canada. This day occurs on Saturday, Dec. 25, and, the Feast of the Holy Family is the following day on Sunday, Dec. 26.

Similarly, New Year’s Day which is the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, and a holy day of obligation in Canada, is on Saturday, Jan. 1 and the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord is the following day on Sunday, Jan. 2.

This means going to Mass two days in a row, or even twice on Saturday, on both weekends to fulfill the holy day of obligation and Sunday Mass obligation.
