The CWL Vancouver Archdiocesan Council Bursary Information: There are four CWL Vancouver Archdiocesan Bursaries for which you can find more details and application information at: http://www.vancouvercwl.bc.ca
1) The Vancouver Diocesan Council Bursary: Two bursaries for $1,000. each. Application is due March 31, 2020. For more information go

2) Provincial Bursary Molly Boucher Bursary: one for $500.00 for a CWL member in BC or Yukon who wishes to further her education. Application is due by March 31,  2020. For more information go to: www.bcyukoncwl.com
3) BC AND YUKON Life Members Art & Culture Bursary: one for $500.00.
The application is due March 31, 2020. For more information, go to: www.bcyukoncwl.com
4) National Bursary Fund: No fixed amount. It is offered in June. The deadline is May 15, 2020. For more information, go to: www.cwl.ca/Resources-forms.html
CWL North Shore Councils Bursary for $1,200.00 for son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter, niece, or nephew of North shore CWL member or a young CWL member herself. To be eligible, the member must be a member of good standing for a year prior. The student must be entering first year of a Post-Secondary Institution. The deadline is April 30th, 2020. Application forms are available at the parish office.

CWL News: February Recollection

The North Shore CWL councils are having a 1/2 day of recollection on Saturday, Feb 9th at Christ the Redeemer Parish, commencing at 9 am with Mass followed by breakfast and a talk by Fr Larry Lynn. We hope to organize car-pooling for this event at our General meeting on Feb 6th at 7 pm in the hall. Please mark your calendars. Our General Meeting will focus on exercise and health and our guest will be Andy Demule who will lead us in some exercises.

The CWL would like to express our gratitude to the Parish for the support of our bake sale and raffle.  Your generous financial support will enable us to continue to aid the various charities, both locally, nationally and internationally. The beautiful baskets were drawn last evening at our Christmas Dinner, congratulations to the winners and a very Blessed and Happy Christmas to you all from St Stephens CWL.

CWL Update: “Pornography Hurts”

CWL – October has been designated pornography awareness month by the CWL. CWL national has passed a Resolution 2017-02- Mandatory Age Verification for Adult Pornographic Websites. There are currently no laws in Canada requiring mandatory age verification on adult pornographic websites. Postcards “Pornography Hurts” are available at the back of the church. These must be sent to Prime Minister Trudeau or Minister of Justice, Jody Wilson-Raybould before the end of October. Thank you for your support.

CWL Meeting on October 4

Our next CWL meeting with be on Wednesday, Oct 4th, at 7 pm. Our guest speaker will be Fr Mark, the topic is “Funerals” from the liturgical point of view. This is a topic that our members were interested in and we thought other members of the parish might find it interesting also. Therefore, the meeting is open to all the parish. There is a sign-up sheet at the back of the church. If you are planning on attending please sign up, so we can prepare hand-outs. For CWL members, a short business meeting will follow.

Garage Sale on May 27

CWL NEWS- Mark your calendars! Garage sale on Saturday, May 27th – 9:30 am to 2:30 pm in the hall. Contact Irene – 604-243-9889 to book a table or two for $ 25/table. All are encouraged to support the bake table with donations of baked items. More details to follow. Come out and have some fun! Look forward to see you there.

CWL General Meeting on Feb. 1

CWL NEWS – Our first general meeting in the New Year will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 7 pm in the parish hall. Our guest for this meeting will be a yoga instructor who will take us through some gentle yoga exercises. All ladies of the parish are welcome to join us and remember to wear comfortable clothing. The 2017 CWL membership is due – We will have the drive the 1st weekend in February at Masses.

CWL NEWS – Our next meeting will be Wednesday, November 2nd at 7:00 pm in the hall and will include a Memorial Service for our deceased CWL Members.

Please remember to bring shampoo and deodorant items for the gift bags for Mary’s Place and also any new items that could be included in a Christmas Basket Raffle or a small monetary donation ($2 -$5) that we can use to purchase items for the Basket(s) Raffle. Our meetings are open to all ladies of the Parish so please join us.

CWL Members’ Christmas Dinner- Our catered Christmas Dinner is on Wednesday, Dec. 7th at 6:00pm in the hall. Cost is $20. Payment can be made at the November 2nd Meeting or through the Sunday collection or dropped off at the Rectory. Please put payment in envelope marked CWL (include name if paying cash).

CWL Meeting on May 11

Our next meeting is on Wednesday, May 11th at 7 pm in the hall. As it is May, we will have a short program honoring Mary as well as have our annual pin presentation. This year, our recipients range all the way from new members to those celebrating 10, 25,35,40,45, 50 and 60 years. Congratulations !! Please remember Mary’s Place as all donations are greatly appreciated. All ladies of the parish are welcome.

Our Lenten Themed CWL meeting will be Wednesday, March 2 at 7:00pm in the hall. Our Guest Speaker will be our Spiritual Advisor, Father Mark, who will talk about “Practicing Lent “. Please remember to bring any clothing donations or toiletries for Mary’s Place. The 50/50 draw will also be shared with them. Our meetings are open to all ladies of the Parish so please join us.
